How to Unfreeze a Bank Account

If your bank account has been frozen due to a cybercrime complaint or disputed transaction, follow these simple steps to resolve the issue quickly.

The first step is to visit or call your bank and ask why your account has been frozen. Request the freeze notice/order and details of the disputed transaction. The bank will guide you about the authority responsible for the action.

Most account freezes happen due to a cybercrime complaint. You should approach the concerned Cyber Cell or Investigating Officer and submit an application with supporting documents like:
  • Transaction receipts
  • Bank statements
  • Payment screenshots
  • Chats or email proofs
  • ID proof (Aadhaar, PAN, etc.)

After verification, the Cyber Cell may issue an official NOC (No Objection Certificate) if you are found innocent. This document confirms that the bank can safely remove the freeze from your account.

Once you receive the NOC, submit it to your bank branch with a written request. The bank will verify the document and start the unfreezing process. Always keep an acknowledgment copy for your record.

Bank freeze matters can become complicated and delayed. A cyber crime lawyer can help you by:
  • Drafting professional replies and applications
  • Coordinating with cyber police and banks
  • Representing you legally
  • Filing petitions in court if needed
  • Speeding up the unfreeze process
Alert: A frozen bank account can be stressful, but with proper action, documentation, and legal guidance, it can be resolved smoothly and quickly.
